Summer Solstice!!

As this is my 100th blog post i thought something reasonably good should be put here.
Even if it is a bit of a whinge!

Summer Solstice!!

Now every year, early on the 21st of June,
The sky still darkened, still there is moon,
Cars, caravans, motorbikes and the odd pushbike,
All these people and hippies walking or hitchhike,
People of all ages, ascend from miles around,
They're assembled in fields, on clover ground,
What are they doing? you may ask, What is it for?
Costing the taxpayer, every year, more and more,
Placed along the roadside, cones by the thousand,
Police in fluorescent jackets, standing around,
Floodlights erected in fields, shinning bright,
Why? cause it's dark, it's not long past midnight,
Are these people mad? sleep still in there eyes,
In fields of Wiltshire, to watch the sunrise,
Like sheep they follow, as if herded in pens,
Believing in some ancient myth, at Stonehenge,
Gathered around stones, erected years gone by,
Just to watch a summer solstice, in the sky,
People nothing better to do? this path they tread,
Citizens, listen! stay home, go to fuckin' bed!
And as it always does, for sure the sun will rise,
And after, the Que's for miles, what a surprise!
Why? these stones have been here, all these years,
No one really knows, they're not even from here!
You've seen the sunrise, so now see the light,
There is no need to be here? in the twilight,
Are there more like I? who would seek revenge,
Upon this ancient site, they call Stonehenge,
Given the unlikely chance, and if I had my way,
I would blow those mother fucker stones away!!

I know Adie! I get the joke! Just thought it funny that Do I do by Stevie Wonder was playing at exactly - precisely! - the moment I started reading your post...Talk of irony!

Have a great day, remember [blog naaitime]

Yes Naa,
i think that quite spooky at times!..
it does happen to me quite regular..the happy b/day song i wrote last week was a prime example!
driving in the "morning rain" (which mel wrote) and listening to "going home by dire straits" and i started to sing the opening lines!!
Oh BTW i sang it to her live on monday!! Ouch!! Ah! but she liked it,
told me i had a lot of nerve and guts! i cant wait to hear her sing the rewritten one i have done! and i have lyrics now for the whole 5min song.

LOL totally! Guess what song is playing right now on my stereo?

My life has been waiting for your love
My arms have been waiting for your love to arrive
My heart has been waiting
My soul anticipating your love, your love, your love

Is this perhaps what those people are seeking
when all of them are greeting
the sun?

Maybe Stonehenge is their only source
of capturing the force
that we call fun?

Possibly those heaps of stone
could chill them to the bone
when they greet the sun?

You think they'd have the same feeling
of revenge
when they see you reeling
and shooting down Stonehenge?

Have a great day, remember [blog naaitime]

Hi Naa,
It was supposed to be a disguised joke!
And i thought it would be a good way to provoke some controversy!
And we all like a bit of that now and again!!
I'm not dead against Stonehenge, or it's annual pilgrimage.
Apart from the money it does cost us taxpayers!
And it's the road system around them that is diabolical!
There has been an untold amount of money wasted on proposed road schemes over the years, only for the environmentalists to oppose them.
The A303 is a major trunk road from London to Cornwall, but at that point it is still a single carriageway.
An absolute disaster especially at this time of year, the holiday season!
Every year just gets worse with traffic as it is a complete bottle neck, it's nothing to see a 10 - 20 mile tailback.
How can that be good for the environment!
