The Choice

Sometimes I find it hard to choose between Fearne Cotton and Zoe Ball. (Let's face it sometimes I find it difficult to choose between any two things but anyway keep going, don't break the flow Dreamer.)

I get up, usually later than I intended, and listen to the radio in the bath. And sometimes while I am there half a blog post comes into my mind, but usually by the time I have washed my hair, (which doesn't take long, ) I have realised that it isn't anything worth writing about.

Anyway, bath time listening is a strange thing. If I wake early and can't go back to sleep I listen to the news on the Today program. Very grown up I know. But somehow the bath requires music, and I can't listen to Radio 1 because Chris Moyles drives me absolutely raving mad which is not a good start to the day. So it has to be Radio 2, which until last year used to keep me amused, mainly because Terry Wogan used to read out letters from people with amusing fictitious names like Walter Walcarpet and Aaron C Rescue. But since Terry moved on, we now have Zoe Ball.

I like Zoe Ball. She's well educated, still very sexy despite being over 40, (steady girls - you are all sexy too) and despite her famous history of drunkenness and hell raising, she sounds like my best friend from school chatting about day to day life in a comfy sort of way that I like.

So what's the problem? Well, by the time I am sitting at my desk working through my emails and phone calls to , (and looking at my blog and reading your comments, yes,) Chris Moyles is about to hand over to Fearne Cotton on Radio 1. I love Fearne Cotton. Yes she's young and can occasionally be irritating, but she is so upbeat and in love with life that it is just infectious. Plus she plays more modern music. Stuff like The Fleet Foxes, Vaccines, Calvin Harris and Two Door Cinema Club. The kind of things that Prairie Girl likes. (Prairie Girl has some of her attention focused elsewhere at the moment, but I like to keep up to date anyway.)

So I have always listened to Fearne. The other night I dreamt that I met her, and she told me she wanted to be my best friend, and I said "You have been for ages."

So now I am faced with an impossible choice. (Some of you may feel there is some kind of parallel with my life here. Hmmmmmmm. I'm not going to think about that. ) But every day I am faced with a decision. Do I stick with grown up lovable Zoe Ball, starting my day in a companionable sort of way, or do I switch to Fearne, the exciting, unpredictable young temptress? In some ways they are so different, in others, so similar. And I want them both.

Decisions like that are impossible. I like Fearne though I don't think I've caught the radio version that you know, I have seen her on ITV on Celebrity Juice. She must have a good sense of humour to do that show.

My vote goes to Fearne

You are right - she is a laugh on Celebrity Juice. I never remember to watch it.

I think the trick is to find one who can be both lovable and companionable, AND exciting and unpredictable at times. It's time to keep looking.

To be really honest I prefer Fearne too, but I'm not sure about your assessment of Zoe Ball. Coloured by her age perhaps, lol?

and my elternal frustrations lives on ,...why one or the other,...why not one then the other? I switch between 6 radio stations and my Ipod as needed,...and don't call me fickle and lacking in perseverence because I have been known to play a beloved song over and over again particularly if I am inspired and the feel of the music is sustaining the required mood

There are days for grown up and there are days for young hop and fun and there are even days for both in turns

and thanks for the flash back to my two week love affair with a claw footed tub, a bathroom the size of a small hotel room, AC/DC Dirty Deeds, John Cougar Mellancamp Jack & Diane, my two lovely but silly cousins and a tall thoroughly besotted young man

know, I was only kidding around really, and also obliquely referencing my strange life choices for those who know about them. (It's a long story, but I expect I'll be bringing you up to date some time soon. )

Anyway, it's academic now, 'cos Zoe Ball was only standing in for Chris Evans, and now he's back so it's Fearne for me most days.

It sounds like you've got some nice memories going on at the moment. Jack and Diane, that's a nice song, I like that. A bit melancholic though

Hahaha God i love ya.....

Soooooo Here's what's going on in my head right now.....

Dreamy turns OFF the radio, saunters into the bathroom, runs a nice deep warm bath.

~Says to self~ "What the hell," and adds some bubble mixture.

Forgoing the radio he opts for the phone.....

He dials....

And says.....

"Hello, My name is Dreamer. I'm soaking in a deep, HoTT bubble bath right now, and I was wondering if you could help me set the tone for my day, even if you are over 40?" LMFTO

It's not that hard Dreamy (no pun intended) Just go with the one that floats your boat on that particular day.

Keep it simple and enjoy Hun!
