Virtual Birthday Present

I was checking out a couple of music videos on the you tube recently, and I came across a band called Kitty Daisy and Lewis.

I can't decide whether I think they are brilliant, or just ordinary but different, but they are quirky and fun anyway. It's a brother and two sisters with, believe it or not, their mum on bass and their dad on guitar. On line there is some recent concert footage, plus some fun stuff recorded in their living room when they were just getting going a few years ago. Everything they do is with old instruments and old recording technology.

Anyway, as soon as I heard them, I thought they would appeal to you. Yes, you, you know who you are. Ye-es, you.

You who, if I remember correctly had a birthday not long ago. I am talking to you, like a time-shifted disembodied voice through a fuzzy TV screen or something. So, if you haven't heard of them already, I thought I would give knowledge of them to you as a kind of virtual birthday present. Go and check them out. Happy Birthday.

(Others may also go and check them out, come back and comment, should they wish.... )

Ha ha, no, nor can I really! I almost liked "going up the country," but of course it could never compare to the wonderful feel of the classic Canned Heat version, which is one of my all time favourites, and as a result, is, I agree, slightly annoying. I don't think I have heard "baby bye bye" so I will have to go and check that out.

I think what I like about them is that they have completely embraced the idea that anyone can make music, and if you do what you love, other people might love it too. There is no contrived attempt to attract a mass market audience.

Thanks for your views though.....and it's not even your birthdays!

oh my! can't believe you have 11 posts up?! how long have i been gone?! trying to get caught up while listening to Kitty Daisy and Lewis... but.... i'm afraid they're not very pleasing to my ears.

nor my eyes, but i'm not supposed to be so judgmental...

sometimes, i wonder what things would be like if we didn't have to pretend to not be judgmental.... i mean... is it so wrong to say that the reason i listen to some musicians and not others has almost as much to do with how pleasing they are to my eyes as well as my ears? lol

same with movies or tv shows... can't really get caught up in it if there's no eye candy. (which, in my case, would be male eye candy, of course.... lol ) but i suppose that's forgivable because my reason for watching shows is to be entertained, and what's the point of settling for ordinary entertainment when you can have better looking entertainment, right?

oh, i'm so sorry... did i just ramble off down a random rabbit trail?

I love it when you ramble off down some random rabbit trail, and I am always ready to follow.

But you aren't being judgemental! There is nothing wrong with having preferences, and as far as entertainment is concerned it doesn't matter why you find, or don't find something entertaining. Of course films are better when there is some eye candy. I'm a bit the same, a girl can get away with a lot of shortcomings in her signing voice if she looks good as far as I am concerned!

Judgemental is when you make decisions about someone's character based on your own prejudices without being able to see them from an objective point of view, it is not about personal preferences.

If you are reasonable and willing to listen if someone points out to you that you have not considered all the angles, then you should be able to say what you think without being called judgemental.
