Things People Always Get Completely Wrong About Retail Workers Part 2 9. And while keeping the store nice and tidy is part of their job, retail workers have plenty to do besides cleaning up after messy customers.  Oh yes. It ticks me off the ones who make a mess on purpose and then are just like oh well. Or if someone breaks something by accident but doesn't come get someone. It's like let us know, so we can get it cleaned up before it dries and is harder. I remember when I worked in fast food, people were such pigs. I knew they wouldn't do that crap if they had to clean up after themselves. 10. Seriously, retail worker ≠ maid/servant.  Just because they don’t attend your every need doesn’t mean they’re “bad at customer service.” This is one that really gets under my skin. I've had people where if I was helping someone else first will get pissy if they don't get waited on in 5 seconds. I've actually had people say that I give horrible service cause I didn't hop to it the second they walked up and that they worked in customer service and know how to give good service. Those are the ones you KNOW NEVER worked in any type of service job cause one thing it teaches you is to respect employees at places unless they really do provide you with horrible service purposely. But when you see someone is busy, wait patiently. I do when I go places, but then again I'm not an idiot. 11. With thousands of items around the store, they’re also not a walking catalog of prices and locations of specific items.  Exactly. Our prices change weekly. While I'll go find a price, you can't expect me to know every damn thing off the top of my head. I seriously don't get paid enough nor do I have the time to do that weekly. 12. While retail workers are extraordinary people, they’re limited in a lot of ways.  Indeed. We don't have magic powers to give you free stuff and crap just cause we work there. Hell we don't even get a discount. 13. For one, they don’t control the prices. Period.  So true. People seem to think we can give stuff for free or that when they say oh this is more here than at so and so place. Well then go to so and so place cause ya ain't getting it cheaper here honey! 14. And, no, they can’t bend the rules for you “just this one time.” Their jobs are on the line, after all!  They don’t make the rules. They just follow them. Yeah, even usually the managers have no control if it's the owner's rules. But yet they take it out on us. I make sure I say well store's rules not mine. And your sorry ass ain't worth me losing my job. You gonna pay my bills? Didn't think so. Then they get all pissy and stomp off. Byyyyye, not sorry to see you go. 15. That’s why treating them like trash when you’re mad or having a bad day is mean and ineffective.  We literally laugh at those losers when they leave. Good entertainment. So when you think you acted like a boss talking down to us, your ass is getting made fun of the second you step out the door. 16. So no matter how high you raise your voice, you’re really only shooting the messenger.  Make a dumbass out of yourself in front of everyone. Other customers even laugh at you and the immature scene you made. Hell when I'm a customer somewhere else and a customer does that to an employee I make fun of them in front of them and tell them what an idiot they look like acting like that. I sent an Angel to watch over you last night, it returned in a hurry. I asked why, it said "Angels can't watch porn." Thanks for fucking traumatizing my fucking Angel! Don't bother trying to figure me out. Not even the little voices in my head understand me. It's pointless! |

I used to be a retail worker about 10 years ago and beleive me they get treated like they are dirt, They are supposed to take all the crappy that people say or hell at them and not say a word. And if they say anthing back to the customer they might be fired. The really need to have a retail work appreciation Day once a month. Without them you could go shopping and have someone smile at you and ask about your day and listen to the customer yell and scream at them just because the customer knows they cant respond LadyTeddieBear
