Any Carolina kid can identify the call of the cicada, along with the skin. Folks who've never heard them do sorta freak out when introduced to the sheer volume of it! Too funny.  blog on!

Great picture I enjoy listening to the sound effects in the Gulf Coast Marshes at Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge at dawn--pretty surreal as you well know. I want to visit Okefenokee Swamp (technically it's a bog); I hear it's real surreal. Ever been? John Lee Hooker Recommended: [blog lucyjane78]

I love the ear-splitting sounds of the cicadas. I don't think I have ever seen one, though. I love your photo. It makes you look even handsomer than normal. "Don't cry because it's over; smile because it happened."
