Never take yourself too seriously..... Tonight I came across a blog entry by someone who seems to believe that a lot of us are not very mature. That we don't take writing seriously. At first I wrote a quick comment and moved on, but I decided I had more I wanted to say and since we can currently only leave one comment per blog entry I decided to make a post of my own. A few quotes from the post..... "I am very distressed by the amount of people who only use blogs as an advertisement." "If not as an advertisement they use them like a game… It is a direct reflection of the general maturity." "...seems like the most active writer’s only care about popularity and care nothing for revealing who they actually are." "To (sic) many people make a total mockery of what the written word is capable of and that is deeply insulting to those who cherish it." So from what I read it seems he feels that 'we' are in some way ruining the blogging experience on Gay Hookup Zone. I can only assume I was one of the people he was speaking of since I tend to be rather silly at times. As any of you that have looked back in my blogs (or come across my comments in other's blogs) will know, I am very capable of being serious when the mood strikes me. I just am being who I am, having a good time and not taking the Gay Hookup Zone web logs as a place where everything has to be about sex. I look at the Gay Hookup Zone blogs as a newspaper, and I can usually be found writing in the humor section. To each their own, some people will be drawn the the serious, deep, mystical writers and some will be drawn to the class clowns, many will be drawn to both, many are both.  |

Everyone's a critic. What I wonder is this: If you don't like a blog, move on. Why sit there and read something you don't like? Who said we are here to "reveal" who are are anyway? Funny, the assumed rules of what to write about. If we were to always follow the trend and never do anything new, we'd be stuck in the dark ages.

I totally agree with you. If you don't like a blog skip it and go to the next one (and DON'T keep on playing with that silly review link). Nick, there is a reason people keep returning to your blog

Maybe one purpose of a blog is to be who you aren't really, and say what you never would otherwise. I wasn't aware of any posted rules about theme or content.

I am not speaking on behalf of the person's blog you read, but do feel that it is your blog and you are free to write what you think and feel at the time, if you are in a goofy mood go for it. In a serious mood go for that as well. It's your blog do with it and say what you want. I just don't feel it should be used for bashing anyone.

Expat really stuck a pin in this one. As so many others have too. So I'll just add: free expression means just what it says. When someone starts making rules about how you should express yourself it is time to run.

I too read the blog in question with great interest. The writer is well spoken and intellegent. I see much potential in him actually. He is merely young and not fully mature. As were we all. Hey expat! Sarcasm sits well with you ol pal. LMAO Is this just another trick by keithcancook

Nick so glad u commented on it. Was in the back of my mind as well. Different strokes for diffrent folks nutting more or less it just is..now expat...rub my back conforming has me a bit sore

Your blog is on my list of "most watched" because of your style, whether it be serious or your sense of humor , it is the reflection of you that keeps us coming back , so don`tt coform , keep being you .After all isn`t that part of the reason we sre here?.

I’m with what sexyfit and Expatbrit siad. Skip it and move on. I did find the post you were talking about. I read it, didn’t comment on it (on his page that is). This whole one comment, do this, do that on your blog shit and I MEAN SHIT! Comments not sticking, EVERYTHING that has been going on in Gay Hookup Zone blogland has got me REALLY frustrated with this site. I’m not sure how I feel anymore. Total frustration! What I do know is my little section of Gay Hookup Zone blogland is MY section and I DON’T GIVE A SHIT WHAT OTHERS THINK! Gawd, I’m having a bad day…I’ll go back and pay bills

Unfortunately (or fortunately) it is my nature to simply have no time for people that take themselves too seriously or are sadly deficient know-it-alls. He falls into both of these categories. His superior arrogant attitude about "HIS" knowledge and research is annoying at least. I have resisted posting on his blog as I don't feel any reasonable comment to the contrary would be received or understood. In short, arguing with some people is just a waste of time because they don't have the ability to "get it". Others of you have posted excellent responses to his attacks. And so I do not need to add to them. But I do agree with what Keith, BLONDE, expat(s), and others have written in response. Really he just needs to mind his own busines and go away and write just any ole thing he wants in his own blog. This system is not his own private literary presentation tool. He was apparently here very early in the Blog process and somehow believes that he has some ownership of it. And many of us are just late arrivers that don't understand how it is supposed to work (according to his highness) I intend to go about my blogging and give him no thought as I do. I wish he would do the same.

TY, morefutility... I read his (the 23 YO master of tantric sex, who has been translating texts for almost 15 years...hmmm.. he started when he was 8 years old... NO WONDER he is so fu**ing smart!!!) from time to time.. I got the same impression you did, about saying what one gender wants to hear. One commenter , female, wrote something to the effect, "For those of you who do not speak "male", this whole longwinded post can be summed up as, "I am a beautiful, sensitive person.. have sex with me.".." LOL. I did notice that several of the "mature" ladies (readers of this post, even) commented favorably about many of his posts. Leaving a comment on any of his posts will just encourage him. He was most likely baiting people because he is falling in the "Ratings" OK.. I left a comment before I read morre of his "work", but it was a negative one. To him, I would say, "If you cannot laugh at yourself... come here and we will laugh at you."

It would be TERRIBLY mean spirited to post on his "competitors's" blogs to knock him out of the top ten, so I am not suggesting that.

I agree with you [blog LickMe5X] . I have deleted my essay post on this subject and over 20 comments with it because it was being used shamelessly to bump up my comments. I wasn't mad, I was going to delete it anyway. I want this whole buisness to be forgotten as quickly as possible.
