A Tale of two lives

Now Oisin and Niamh were happy for a time, but Oisin pined for his father, his hunting companions and the world he left behind and after three years had passed Niamh conceded to his request to return one last time to the land of Erin and say farewall to his past.
Mounting the white steed, Niamh forbad him to descend from the or touch the ground on Eireann for should he do so the spell of Tir Na nOg would be lifted and "real" time would pass.
Oisin returned to the land of his birth and searched high and low for his father and the Knights of Erin and his hunting companions and his hunting dogs. He searched up and down the land calling his family, freinds and dogs by name but not a sight or sound he heard of times or people from his past - for although just three years had passed in the Land of Youth, three hundrid had passed in Ireland and Finn and the Fianna were not more and Saint Patrick had visited the land.
In a place called Glen na Smole, the Valley of the Thrushes, he came across some men trying to shift a rock that Oisin could have moved with one flick of his wrist, for gone were the great strong men of Ireland. Reaching from his to move the rock for the strugging workers, the strap attaching the saddle to the house broke and Oisin fell upon the soil of Eireann and with each passing minute he grew older by the year. The workmen gathered around and Osisn asked about his father and they explained the passing of the Fianna and the history of Ireland for the last three hundrid years.
And as the sun started setting in the West, Oisin realised his mistake in wishing to return to the past and leaving behind his fairy queen and Tir Na nOg and the land of youth and happiness for he had returned to a land where everything was changed and reality was not the same, and as the last rays of the sun disappeared behind the horizon he thought he heard the wailing of Niamh, his darling bride, the princess of the underworld, the land that will be forever known as Tir Na nOg.
I have missed my blogging and my blogging friends but sometimes I wonder if this tale of Celtic Myth and Legand could also refer to this site and seeking ethernal happiness. The last few months of reality have seen so many changes, sickness, death, stress and depression. But on the other side of the coin, the time and bonding of my family strengthened.
Wishing everyone a happy and peaceful Holiday whether spent with family or friends, surrounded by love and happiness - and a tender thought for those in sadness or in need at this time - HUGS!

Hope 2011 is a great year for you too. I missed your blogs and photos and look forward to catching up.
The snow all melted overnight so that's no longer a problem but it was a nuisance when the car was snowed in with Christmas shopping to be done.

I think the story is a true representation of Irish Mythology, Mystery and Magic and it's a pity we don't explore these stories more.
