A day in the life....

The spawn and I were driving down the road, heading home tonight.

Spawn - I'm hungry. You should stop at Taco Bell.

Me - I can't.

Spawn - Why not?

Me - It's hard for me to keep up that neglectful parent image if I'm feeding you and showing you love all the time.

Spawn - Really Mom?!?

Me - I have an image to uphold, you know.

Spawn - Too late. You sent me an emoji with heart eyes.

Damn.... Those emoji's get me every time.

They're only kids once. I want them to be able to look back on their childhood and remember it fondly. I don't look back on my childhood with good feelings.... I broke a cycle with them.

Even when they've gotten in trouble for their stupid kid shit.

My oldest son still laughs and tells the story of how I made him walk home from a party he wasn't supposed to be at because I took his car keys and left a note that said.... "Hope you had fun at the party! Love Mom"
