The Japanese underground entertainment sector, also known as the water trade, was swept from the public eye before the Japanese 1974 Summer Olympics. More hidden or moved from tourist areas, it remains to this day and age.
Our story takes place the mid-70s when American businesses sent more representatives to Japan to secure the cheaper electronic goods that Japan was producing. Japanese businesses, eager to earn contracts, entertained their foreign ‘’ much the same way as any business would. Mama-san’s eyes ever so briefly widen in surprise but she quickly composes herself and answers, “Oh, you make her very happy. She say, ‘You numba one, best man ever!’”
The next day, his Japanese colleagues pick him up at his hotel for their golf outing. Now Japanese culture would not allow them to ask how he enjoyed his night. Even hung-over, he is beaming like a schoolboy losing his virginity. He wants to talk, wants to shout, he wants to brag over his conquest and sexual prowess over that Japanese girl. Their facade is blank but they know.
On the short 9th hole, the lead Japanese golfer sinks a hole-in-one. Everyone is congratulating the man. Wanting to use his newly learnt Japanese from last night’s gracious professional woman, the American blurts out, “A na ta wa ma chi gat ta na des!”
His Japanese partner looks at him puzzled, and asks, “What do you mean, ‘You’re in the wrong hole?’”

Somebody's watching - or NOT

This post deals with those 'activity notifications' in your lower right-hand screen. At first it's gets you excited (OK, us guys) to think our profile picture attracted a prospect for 'friendship+'
I have had 2 different profiles, both where GOLD at some point [they used to offer SILVER but it's gone], but the premise and reality of this (or any other 'adult' site remains similar in marketing. A glance counts!
It didn't take me long to realize that a 'VIEWED' occurs when that profile's icon appears on any of our/their pages. In the beginning you may use the SEARCH feature. MEMBERS NEAR ME, WHO'S ONLINE actually alert those other members that you viewed them. The home page's dozen WHO'S ONLINE is a huge culprit.
In short, it gives you either a false sense of being popular or of being stalked. The alert doesn't mean you even opened and viewed the words so carefully crafted by the other member (or yourself).
HINT: It is an easy way to get noticed without upgrading your membership.
Now FLIRTs and LIKEDs actually alert you to a true activity. I wish I would be alerted when someone opened the profile, viewed or commented on a pic or vid. You do get an alert when someone LIKED you pic or vid.
Back to the subject at hand. I have read profile script about people complaining that they get a message from someone thanking them for viewing them. Stalker syndrome - neither realizes that a VIEWED alert was just a hit from a SEARCH or home page dozen ONLINE profile icon view.
But why be upset? You came to this site to get noticed - didn't you? The site does need a lot of work since CUPID or SEEKING SETTING filters do not extend to all your pages - ie HOME (any of the 3 options), WHO'S WEBCAMing, IMing.
In my summation; treat viewed literally - they saw you; as in that they saw you on the street. It does not mean they noticed and tried to learn about you [to me that would imply they opened your profile - new alert option].
